In this moment and in this hour I want you to recognize your worth. Your greatness is fierce. Your ability is incredible. The enemy is after the essence of who you are and can become.
Struggling was nothing new to me. Around 10 years of age, I struggled with my identity, my wardrobe, my hair, even my smile. I wanted to be liked by everyone else but did not celebrate my own individuality. What mainly contributed to this state was listening to entitled people. Classmates, strangers, relatives, and friends saw me as being different. “She’s weird,” some would say to others. Although the remarks was sometimes involuntary, I began criticizing myself on a daily basis.
Comparing and contrasting became a daily task. Wow, she’s pretty. How is her hair so long? I wish I looked like that. I wish I had her voice. I wish I could dance like him. The list went on and on. Eventually I knew things had to change. I became sickened by it all. Sickened by the fear of making my own move. I cried out to Jesus.
I heard stories of my Savior growing up but I began to study Jesus’ character and His words for myself. I fell in love with His love for me.
I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself. -Jeremiah 31:3
When I had put things into perspective I realized that God formed me in His image (as stated in Genesis 1:27). He gave me two eyes, to see good and observe the wonders of the earth. Two hands, to hold onto loved ones and perfect my gifts. Two legs, to walk upright and explore life’s adventures. One mouth (Thank God for only one!) to speak life to myself and others and be grateful for my blessings. A mind to cancel the lies spoken against me by enemies and to believe God. What a wonderful blueprint and design of greatness embodied in one being. Once I realized all of these things, I saw that I was a force to be reckoned with.
Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. – Jeremiah 1:5
I would like to inform you of your greatness. No one can stop you from being who God called you to be unless you believe them. We must constantly remind ourselves of the power we possess. Power to live and speak life, the power to grow and help others grow. The enemy seeks to deceive you but he can’t take your power away because God has given it to you. Every time a naysayer speaks against you counter their words with your own. Be great!
The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively. – Bob Marley
“Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Joel 2:32
