Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled. – Matthew 5:6 KJV
There I was again, scrolling through my phone; looking at his contact. I had just come home from work. Tired, relaxed, and feeling a little lonely. I would call here and there but this day was different. I wanted him to fill an emptiness that I had inside. There was a hunger in me and it was not for food.
Love begins with an image; lust with a sensation. – Mason Cooley
I wanted to be satisfied with his words. To delight in his conversation. So I sat there contemplating if I should or should not call him.
I decided to kneel down and pray. As I meditated, the Holy Spirit filled me with peace. “He’s my friend, not my Savior,” I said aloud. Continuing to meditate on God’s love, the hunger subsided. I thought about the blessings I had received that day and realized this was the perfect opportunity to show my gratitude.
There is a hunger within us all. A deep thirst that cannot be satisfied with food, water, or mere conversation. This is the hunger for fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Before you go to bed, have a heart-to-heart with God. Our world is constantly changing and it is so important for us to meet with Him. He sustains us (Job 33:4), rejuvenates us (Ephesians 5:29), and empowers us (Romans 8:11). Our bodies are temples and were made to please God. He loves us so much and wants to spend time with us.
I am so glad that through prayer and meditation I was able to stop lust in its tracks! We have power over every temptation and evil that forms against us. As stated in Isaiah 54:17, No weapon that is formed against you will prosper! Declare this over your life: I have kingdom authority and power!
Prayer for Devotion with Holy Spirit
You are faithful, mighty, and wonderful to me. Thank you for leading me in this day. You bless me with gifts seen and unseen. You protect me from dangers great and small. Because of you, I can live in freedom. Freedom from sickness, freedom from disease, freedom from lust and so much more! (You may insert your own personal deliverance.) I have power and authority because Jesus rose with it all. Holy Spirit, lead and guide me. Show me how to connect with you. When an urge comes upon me for other things may I be satisfied with you. I love you. Purify me. I give you everything. The good and the bad. Jesus made a way for me to be forgiven. By grace and through faith I am healed!
