What’s in your tank?

Good morning. What are you eating this morning? I’m thinking about making some oatmeal with assorted berries mixed in. Or maybe a nice banana smoothie. While you’re rummaging through your fridge or cabinet, have you ever thought about soul food? I’m not talking about Granny’s good ol’ cooking but literally food for your soul.

Just as the body needs nutrients stored in it’s system your soul needs a refreshing meal. What I like to do is meditate, pray, stretch, or focus my thoughts on positive things. Negativity can cripple you and disrupt your atmosphere. According to Barbara Frederickson, a positive psychology researcher at the University of North Carolina, “your brain closes off from the outside world and focuses on the negative emotions of fear, anger, and stress.”

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. -Matthew 5:6 BSB

If you woke up this morning God has a purpose for you. You are meant to be here. Don’t let anyone take your joy away from you or tear you down. Make the best out of this day and try to be a light in someone else’s life. We all need a little sunshine. Now that’s good soul food!
