Hello everyone. For the past couple of months I have been reading The Transforming Power of Spiritual Desire Devotional by Darlene Bishop. It has become a staple in my daily routine. This devotional has benefited my outlook on life and desires. I will share with you all an excerpt that has encouraged me to become more transparent with God.
10 A single day in your courts
is better than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God
than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
11 For the Lord God is our sun and our shield.
He gives us grace and glory.
The Lord will withhold no good thing
from those who do what is right.
12 O Lord of Heaven’s Armies,
what joy for those who trust in you. – Psalm 84:10-12 NLT
God never does the unnecessary. He gives sight to the blind, not to those who can already see. He heals the sick, not those who are healthy. He lifts up the fallen, not those who are still standing. And, in this same way, He raises up the “nobodies” of this world, not those who are already “somebodies.”
When Jesus was on the earth, He went to the needy. And God still meets us at the point of our need, not at the point of our preferences. This is because need produces desire. When we have a need, we desire for it to be filled in whatever way possible. Let us pray for God to fill us with a burning desire for Him.
Prayer for the day
Dear God,
Thank you for your love. You encourage me to present myself to you just the way I am. I love you for that. Help me to be transparent with you. To not be ashamed of my past but to thank you for leading me forward. You love me, flaws and all. Use me for your purpose. May my needs be satisfied according to your will for my life Heal me from past hurt, resentment, and everything that hinders me. Your will is what’s best for me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
