Oftentimes in this life, we are reminded of our shortcomings, failures, and inadequacies by society. If not careful, we could fall into the trap of comparison, forgetting that we are all powerful, special, and unique. God has spoken Himself and used many others in the bible to speak on identity. In honor of our 7th anniversary here at Life to Your Soul, I’d like to present you with these seven truths to remember. May they bring light to your soul.
You are dynamic. You are a force to be reckoned with and you bring much to the table. God created you as representation of His glory. “You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, and set him over the works of Your hands.” Hebrews 2:7 NKJV
You have purpose. You were born for a reason. In case no one has ever told you, you matter! “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’” Genesis 1:26 NKJV
You have a choice to accept or reject what others believe about you. Just because someone has said something about you, doesn’t mean you have to receive it. Audibly declare, “I reject those lies. I am fearfully and wonderfully made!” “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 NKJV “Do not be deceived: ‘Evil company corrupts good habits.”’ I Corinthians 15:33 NKJV. Check out more affirmations here!
You are powerful. That’s right! You’re called to help change the world. God believes in you! Use your words and influence to build up things and tear down lies. “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” I Peter 2:9 NKJV “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” Proverbs 18:21 NLT
You are capable of doing hard things. Don’t doubt your ability to do great things. They require work, discipline, motivation, and self-control but that doesn’t mean your goals can’t be accomplished. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NKJV
Having weaknesses does not mean you are inferior. As difficult as it may be to comprehend, we don’t have to have it all together. Living in these human bodies means that we will have weaknesses. But be encouraged in the Lord! “Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NKJV
Your prayer and worship life are more important than you may realize. Pray changes situations, it changes others, and it changes us. If there is something bothering you, try communicating with your Heavenly Father about it. He’s always up for a good conversation. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV
I hope these help remind you of your worth. When you are feeling down in the dumps, speak these truths over yourself. Here’s to more life and the discovery of your identity through Christ Jesus!
